Having loved and made cakes for as long as she can remember, Dawn went on to become a fully qualified chef and pastry chef. Over the years, she perfected her skills in cake design, VIP cuisine and even in the muddy fields of combat catering with the RAF. During this time, Dawn had the privilege of being able to cook for numerous British and international dignitaries, including Her Majesty the Queen.
After winning an impressive array of prestigious national and international awards, Dawn retired from the RAF and returned to her passion for cakes, completing further training in London with some of the UK’s top cake designers. Now at the peak of her profession, Dawn is one of only three females ever to have won the Worshipful Company of Cooks Award (2004) and is also a Master Craftsman in the Craft Guild of Chefs.
Not content to rest on her laurels, Dawn knows that the perfect cake has to look gorgeous and taste like Heaven. And so, The Master Cakesmith was opened in 2012. The Master Cakesmith is driven by one simple principle: The best cakes can only be made using the finest natural ingredients, whether it’s icing from Switzerland, vanilla pods from Madagascar, or farm eggs from just up the road. Combined with a quarter of a century of experience, time-honoured artisanal methods, and considerable skill, the perfect balance of taste, style and beauty can be achieved.
