Terms and Conditions


Before confirming your order with The Master Cakesmith please read the below Terms and Conditions.

  Payment of your deposit confirms you agree with our Terms and Conditions.

BOOKINGS

1. Bookings - We require a £100.00 non-refundable deposit for all wedding cake orders and full payment for all other orders. Deposits are for goods as detailed on your invoice and non-refundable or transferable.

2. Minimum Spend - For all wedding cake bookings we have a minimum spend of £500.00 excluding delivery, fresh flowers and additional costs i.e. silk ribbons, stencils etc.

3. Changes To Bookings – We take on the amount of work based on your booking, as such we will only reduce your booking by 10% and within our minimum spend. Adding onto your booking will only be possible if we have availability. Changes to the previously agreed design may incur an administration fee of £75.00 to cover extra admin & appointments if required.

4. Postponed Weddings – We will reschedule your date if we are available for the new date for a non-refundable transfer fee of £100.00. The transfer fee will be offset against your wedding cake should your wedding go ahead on the new date. If your wedding does not go ahead the transfer fee is non-refundable or exchangeable. Postponements are available until 8 weeks before your wedding date. After this date it is non-transferable and your final balance for the original date is payable. We reserve the right to amend prices in line with current/market prices for the new date. If we are unable to reschedule all deposits and booking fees are non-refundable or transferable.

5. Cancellations By You –. Once a booking is confirmed you are responsible for the total cost of the cake as shown on the invoice/quote. We therefore strongly recommend you take out wedding insurance. We only accept cancellations via e-mail with a copy of your booking confirmation as proof of booking. For cancellations within 3 months 50% of your booking will be payable. For cancellations within 8 weeks the full payment will be payable. In all circumstances you will forfeit any refund if your wedding date is or is not resold.

6. Cancellations By Us – In the unlikely event that we need to cancel your booking we will contact you as soon as possible.

7. Remaining Balance – The remaining balance is due by the date shown on your invoice. If the balance is not paid we reserves the right to cancel the order.        

8. Payments - All payments are non-refundable even if your wedding is cancelled beyond reasons out of your control.

9. Prices – The Company reserve the right to increase prices in line with the market price of ingredients and goods at any time.

DESIGN

10. Quotations – All quotations will be sent after your design appointment via e-mail and are valid for 14 days from date of issue. We reserve the right to revise prices after this period in line with the market price of core ingredients and commodities

11. Design – Due to the handmade nature sometimes it is not possible to follow the design brief in full. In these circumstances we reserve the right to amend the cake design if we feel the overall look would benefit i.e. flower placement, ribbon placement. If we are unable to stencil flush, we will not overpaint to prevent bleeding behind the stencil.

12. Flowers – All fresh flowers should be booked by you with your florist. We cannot be held responsible for the quality or quantity that your florist provides for us. Flowers are to be none toxic loose stems/foliage that we can then fix to the cake in a hygienic and food safe manor. The placement of the flowers will be subject to the amount and type provided by your florist.

13. Nontoxic Food Safe Decoration - Some items used to decorate your cake are nontoxic food safe i.e. glitter, copper leaf, shimmers. These items all have a product information sheet for traceability, are food safe nontoxic and safe to use on food. However, they must be removed before serving and are not to be consumed. You should also be aware that although, the icing, petals and leaves of sugar flowers are edible, some other decorations are not i.e. wires, ribbons, pins, jewels etc. Sugar flowers should not be eaten and you are responsible for advising your guests & venue of this. We will not accept any liability for any loss, damage or injury arising from any such exposure.

DELIVERY

14. Delivery – We will not accept any liability when we are not able to deliver due to adverse weather or road condition, traffic chaos or other highway hazards. We shall not be responsible for any default in our obligations where delivery is prevented or delayed because of illness, bereavement, war, civil strife, drought, flooding, electricity failure, acts of nature or any other event beyond the reasonable control of the Company.

15. Damages - Once your order has been delivered you are responsible for it and we will not accept responsibility for any damage thereafter.

16. Hot Weather – We cannot guarantee your cake will not be damaged or be affected by hot weather. We will advise in the week of the wedding if the design should be changed, or any extra precautions are required in hot weather. Under no circumstances should iced cakes be refrigerated. 

17. Venue Set Up & Service - It is your responsibility to check with your venue for restrictions on any part of your order. We cannot be held responsible if your venue prevents set up of any restricted elements of your order. It is your responsibility to liaise with your venue for tables, tablecloths and for the cutting and service of your order. We are not responsible in any way for the service or cutting of your cake.

18. Hire/Loan Items – All hire/loan items are the property of The Master Cakesmith and must not be defaced, tampered with or changed.

FOOD SAFETY

19. Allergies – We cannot guarantee any of our products do not contain any substance that may cause some form of allergic reaction. You are responsible for advising your guests of this and we will not accept any liability for any loss, damage or injury from exposure to anything which might cause an allergic reaction such as, but without limitation, to nut products, alcohol, dairy, wheat, sulphates, fish or colourings. A full allergen list will be provided, we strongly recommend this is printed and displayed alongside the cut cake. It should also be forwarded to your venue.

20. Every precaution is made when we make your cake to follow strict food safety regulations and guidelines. If you require a copy of our paperwork, please contact us after your wedding and we can provide this for you.

AFTER YOUR WEDDING

21. Hire Items - All hire items are to be returned within 3 days. They are your responsibility until returned and checked by us. If a third-party damage’s, breaks or loses an item the responsibility still remains with you, and it is then your responsibility to liaise with the third party. Under no circumstances will we liaise with a third party. All breakages, loss or damages will be invoiced to replace like for like and are payable within 7 days from invoice. Unless arranged all hire items must be returned within 3 days. If hire items are not returned a daily hire rate will be payable until the hire item(s) is returned to a maximum of 14 days. After 14 day a replacement invoice will be issued. We reserve the right to use a suitable alternative if any of our items have been lost or broken and a replacement cannot be sourced before your event. We will endeavor to style your cake to fit in with your style, colour scheme and theme of event.

22. Complaints – In the event you have a complaint about your cake, please notify us as soon as possible and within 30 days. If you don’t follow this procedure, there will be less opportunity for us to investigate and resolve your complaint. If the cake is consumed you are in acceptance of any mistakes made, including errors on flavour.
